Our language program consists of 6 phases and this week we are done with phase one !! We spend 30 Days listening, pointing at objects and speaking a bit - means to try to say small sentences. By now we should be able to understand 876 words... and I think that we actually do. It doesn't mean though that we are also able to say all of those words. I guess to some of you it already stuck out that it is always easier to understand another language than to speak it. Our coach keeps encouraging us by saying that it is important for now that we understand everything and that the speaking ability will follow. We "just" have to listen to our recordings as much as possible...
So haben wir am ersten Tag angefangen / That's how we started at the first day
Aber schon bald wurde es mehr.... / But soon it got more....
und mehr.... / and more....
Das Eisberg Prinzip / The Iceberg principle
The mainpoint of this principle is to understand as many words as possible and to put them on the bottom of the Iceberg - you might not even notice yourself that you know some words until you hear and recognize them. Through constantly repeding them they will slowly make their way up -until you can indeed spontaniously come up with them.
