Langsam aber sicher... / Slowly but surely...

Langsam aber sicher geht es voran. Vor 2 Wochen bin ich mit Cathren zusammen ins Dorf gefahren um das Blech fürs Dach hinzubringen. So sahen die Häuser zu dem Zeitpunkt aus und da hat sich bis heute nicht viel geändert ;). Gestern war der letzte Tag des Fastenmonats Ramadan und so hoffen wir dass es jetzt wieder etwas zügiger voran geht. 

Slowly but surely we're making progress. Two weeks ago I went to the village with Cathren to take out the tin for my roof. That's what the houses looked like, back then and not much changed till today. Yesterday was the last day of Ramadan -the month of fasting. So we hope that the work will speed up a little.

Es wird an Hundertmarks Haus gearbeitet. Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, sie haben schnell angefangen, als sie mich vorbei fahren gesehen haben :D

Gestern bin ich dann nochmal mit Ryan rausgefahren. Ich hab die Metall Türen geladen und er hatte die Gitter für alle Fenster, von beiden Häusern in seinem Auto.

Yesterday I went out with Ryan again. I took all the metal doors and Ryan all the bars for, all the windows for both houses. 

Die letzet paar mal die ich ins Dorf gefahren bin, wunder ich mich immer über diesen Baum :D
Ich frag mich wer da angefangen hat an ihm zu arbeiten und dann nach der hälfte sich überlegt hat, dass er den Baum ja eigentlich doch nicht braucht...

The last couple times I drove out to the village I was wondering what happened here :D. 
Who started working on this tree and half way through decided that he actually doesn't need it ?!

Auf dem Weg in unser Dorf kommen wir durch viele verschiedene Dörfer. In diesem haben sie ganz viele Palmen. Sieht so cool aus. Gleich mal fotografieren ;)

On the way to our village we pass through a lot of different villages. This one has lots of palm trees. Looks really nice.

Schon zum vierten mal, haben wir eine Bootladung Zement ins Dorf geschickt. Anfangs haben wir Zement mit dem Auto rein gefahren, aber wir haben schnell gemerkt, das man sehr viel Zement für ein Haus, geschweige den zwei Häuser braucht und so wurde uns der Tipp mit dem Boot gegeben. 

60 Säcke Zement können mit einer Bootsladung transportiert werden. Sie kommen direkt an den "Hafen" unseres Dorfes an und werden dann von den Jungs hoch geschleppt. 

It's been the forth time now, that we sent a boat loaded with cement to the village. At the beginning we carried it in with our trucks, but we realized quickly, that one needs a lot of cement to build a house, let alone two. So we decided this would be the better way. 

60 bags of cement can a boat take at once. They get directly to the port in the village and get carried up to the village from these guys. 

Wer von euch schon mal versucht hat einen Sack Zement irgendwohin zu befördern, der weis wie schwer die Dinger sind. Echt verrückt. Also bezahlen wir die guten Jungs dafür, die Säcke hoch zu schleppen (sonst würden sie auch nicht machen :D ). 

If you ever tried to carry a bag of cement somewhere, you know how heavy those are. Crazy heavy. So we actually pay these boys to carry them up to the village (otherwise they wouldn't do it either :D)

Das letze mal hab ich angefangen Fotos von Leuten zu machen und ihre Namen aufzuschreiben. Obwohl ich jetzt schon öfters dort war, kenne ich leider immer noch nicht viele Leute bei Namen. Das hat zum einen mit den Namen zu tun, die manchmal nicht ganz so einfach sind. Zum anderen damit, das ich die Leute nicht immer wieder erkenne :D Aber das wird sich nun ändern!
Und die Leute freuen sich wenn man Fotos von ihnen macht, das macht es sehr einfach.

 The last time being out in the village I started taking pictures of people and to write down their names. Even though I had been out in the village many times I still don't know a lot of people by name. One reason is their names, which are not always easy to pronounce or remember. The other reason is, that I have a hard time recognizing people. But it will be better from now on! 
People like to get their picture taken, so that makes it easy... 

Da gestern das große Fest "Korite" - ende des Ramadans gefeiert wurde. Hab ich zur Feier des Tages Schoko Pralinen mit ins Dorf genommen und dort an jeden verteilt, dem ich begegnet bin. Ich musste nicht zu weit laufen :D Hätte mehr mitnehmen müssen.... das nächste mal.

Since yesterday was the big feast of "Korite" - the end of Ramadan. I took some chocolates out with my and gave them to everyone I met. I didn't have to go to far :D Should have taken more... 

Es sieht noch sehr nach Baustelle aus... ziemlich chaotisch ehrlich gesagt :D 

Still looks like a big building side... it's actually a big mess :D 

Ryan muss wieder verschieden Dinge mit den Männern diskutieren, damit die Arbeit weiter gehen kann. 

Ryan has to have more discussions with the men, so the work can continue. 

Ramota (rechts) sagt mir immer, ich soll Fotos von ihr machen und auf Facebook hochladen :D ... echt die Beste.
