Blut spenden / Blood donation
Am Montag Abend hab ich eine E-mail erhalten, in der gefragt wurde ob jemand mit der Blutgruppe 0 pos. bereit wäre am Dienstag Blut spenden zu gehen, da eine Frau, die operiert werden sollte nicht genügend Blut hat um die Operation durch zu führen. Da hab ich dann doch glatt mal ein meinen Rote-Kreuz-Ausweis gespickt und entdeckt, dass ich tatsächlich zu der Gruppe gehöre :).
Also bin ich gestern mit 3 Männern losgefahren in ein Krankenhaus, dass ca. 1,5h Autofahrt von Dakar entfernt ist. Dort angekommen mussten wir dann noch in ein anderes Krankenhaus und eine Krankenschwester hat uns begleitet um dann das Blut mitzunehmen und sicher zu stellen dass es auch an die richtige Patientin gelangt.
Das ganze hat also mehr Zeit in anspruch genommen als gedacht, aber ich bin froh es überlebt zu haben (tut schon weh wenn die da rein stechen ) und das der Frau geholfen werden konnte.
Monday night I received an e-mail asking for people with the blood type 0 pos. who would be willing to donate blood for a woman that needs surgery, but since her blood resultes are not good they can't do it. So I checked my little red-cross-booklet and discoverd that I indeed belong to that type of people... so I went yesterday with 3 men to a hospital that's arround 1,5 h drive away. When we arrived there they told us that we have to go to another hospital (luckily just 10min.away) to donate the blood there. A nurse accompanied us to make sure that the blood we donate would go back to the hospital and to the right patient.
The whole procedure took longer than I thought, but I'm glad I survived (It really hurts when they pocke the needle in your arm) and that we could help the woman.
