Der letzte Tag ! / The last day!

Wär hätte es gedacht...dass ich am letzten Tag im Jahr 2016 es noch schaffe, mal auszuprobieren zu surfen?! Vergangenen Donnerstag ist eine Gruppe aus Amerika gekommen, um sich das Land hier anzuschauen und einen kleinen Einblick in die Arbeit hier zu kriegen. Wie es hier abläuft, wie das mit dem Sprache lernen ist usw. Auf jeden Fall bin ich am Samstag dann mit ihnen zusammen an Strand gegangen und eins der Mädels surft schon länger, so hab ich mich spontan entschlossen die Gelegenheit zu nutzen und mir auch ein Surfboard zu leihen und mal zu testen wie das geht. Ich kann euch sagen, es ist nicht so einfach. Man braucht schon ganz schön Kraft um sich auf dem Brett aufzustellen, geschweige den das Gleichgewicht zu halten. Ich hab es geschafft ein Stückchen auf den Knien zu surfen ;) - immer hin. Falls ich jemals wieder die Gelegenheit hab, geht es vielleicht schon besser. War auf jedenfall echt cool !

Who would have thought ... that on the last day of the year 2016 I would still get the chance to try how to surf ? Last Thursday, a group from America came to visit Africa and to get a little insight into the work here. How the organization workes here, how we go about learning the language, etc. Anyway, on Saturday I went with them to the beach and spontaneously decided to rent a board and give it a try. One of the girls knows how to surf and could me instruct about how to do it.
I can tell you, it's not that simple. You need a lot of strength to push yourself up on the board, let alone keep the balance. I've managed to surf a bit on my knees;). If I'll ever have the opportunity again, it might come easier. It was definitely a cool experience !
